Using a carefully planned surgical pathway, he gently moves aside the surrounding muscles, tissues, and other structures to access the affected cervical disc without disturbing the spinal cord. The damaged disc is then removed, along with any bone spurs or other tissue compressing nearby nerves.

Once the compression has been relieved, Dr. Grossman places a spacer or bone graft into the empty disc space to restore proper disc height and encourage the surrounding vertebrae to fuse together. A small plate and screws are then used to stabilize the spine while the bone heals. After surgery, you are monitored in recovery before returning home, often within 24 hours.
