Dr. Seth Grossman is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon dedicated to helping you find lasting relief from neck, back, and spine conditions. At Grossman Spine, he brings his surgical expertise with a patient-first approach, always exploring non-surgical, conservative treatments first, and using minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgical techniques whenever appropriate.
Educational Background
Dr. Grossman brings a unique blend of engineering expertise and medical training to spine care. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Rutgers University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, before completing a Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to medical school, he worked as an engineer developing technologies for medical applications and imaging systems.
His passion for innovation and the musculoskeletal system led him to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree at Thomas Jefferson University. Following medical school, he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, the teaching hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and then finally completed advanced fellowship training in Spine Surgery at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center. Dr. Grossman also formerly served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU, where he helped educate and mentor future orthopedic surgeons.
Advanced Specialization

His surgical expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery, robotic-assisted spine surgery, spinal decompression procedures, spinal fusion surgeries, cervical and lumbar disc replacement, and corrective surgery for spinal deformities.
His engineering background gives him a unique understanding of advanced surgical technology and precision. By incorporating robotic assistance and minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate, Dr. Grossman performs procedures that help preserve healthy tissue, reduce postoperative discomfort, and support a faster recovery while maintaining accuracy.
Patient Care Philosophy
One of the defining aspects of Dr. Grossman’s practice is his commitment to patient-centered care. He believes surgery should never be the first recommendation and evaluates every appropriate non-surgical treatment before considering an operation. At Grossman Spine, you will never be pressured into surgery.
Every treatment plan is personalized to your diagnosis, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. Whether your care involves physical therapy, injections, medication, or surgery, Dr. Grossman takes the time to explain your condition in clear language so you can make informed decisions. When surgery becomes necessary, he recommends only the procedure that offers the greatest opportunity for long-term improvement.
